Sister Ann Paul (Barbara) Chenard, D.C., dies at 96

A funeral Mass for Daughter of Charity Sister Ann Paul (Barbara) Chenard was offered Feb. 4 at St. Louise House in Albany, N.Y. Sister Ann Paul died Jan. 30. She was 96.

Born in Biddeford, Maine, she knew the Daughters of Charity through her aunt, Sister Blanche Chenard, who resided for many years at the Daughters of Charity hospital in Waterville, Maine.  Sister Ann Paul enrolled in the hospital’s nurse training program in 1947, and, in July of the same year, she entered the Daughters of Charity in Emmitsburg, Md.

In 1963, she received her bachelor’s degree in education from St. Joseph College in Emmitsburg, and earned her master’s degree in education from Niagara University in Niagara, N.Y. in 1982.

Sister Ann Paul taught at St. John School in East Baltimore 1949-56 and at St. Michael School in Overlea 1964-68. Elsewhere she served in the Archdiocese of Washington, Connecticut and New York.
