Sister Norma Loraditch dies at 92

A funeral Mass for School Sister of Notre Dame Norma Loraditch was offered March 26 at Villa Assumpta in Baltimore. Sister Norma died Feb. 26. She was 92.

Born Shirley Ann Loraditch in Cumberland, Sister Norma was a parishioner of St. Patrick in Cumberland and a graduate of Catholic Girl’s Central High School there. She was accepted as a candidate for the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1951, professing her first vows in 1954 and perpetual vows in 1960.

Sister Norma taught at St. Mark School in Catonsville (1951) and at Notre Dame of Maryland Lower School in Baltimore (July 1952- July 1953 and July 1954-June 1960). She served as a seamstress and library aid at Villa Assumpta (2010-18) and was a minister of prayer and presence (2018-25).

Elsewhere, Sister Norma served in Pennsylvania; Virginia; South Carolina; New York, the Diocese of Wilmington, Del.; and the Archdiocese of Washington.
