Blue and Red Masses will honor first responders

Archbishop William E. Lori will celebrate a “Blue and Red Mass” Oct. 23 at St. Joseph’s Monastery Parish in Irvington at 11 a.m. The Mass honors law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics and all emergency responders, both retired and active duty.

Father Mark Bialek, pastor of St. John in Westminster, will celebrate a similar Mass Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. at St. John. The liturgy will be followed by a reception.

First responders are encouraged to wear their uniforms at both events, and they are invited to bring their family and friends. Prayers will be offered for those who have been gravely injured or lost their lives in the line of duty.
